Sagar Thakkar Completes UCA Emerging Leaders Program

This past year, RFC Attorney Sagar Thakkar participated in the Underground Contractors Association (UCA) Emerging Leaders Program. The experience provided a comprehensive look at the construction and infrastructure industry and further strengthened our firm’s ability to advise and represent contractors and construction clients.

The program brought together emerging professionals from across the industry for a series of sessions focused on the operational, financial, and regulatory aspects of construction projects. Through these sessions, Sagar engaged directly with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry leaders, gaining valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities currently shaping the industry.

A key benefit of the program was its focus on both the business and technical sides of construction. Participants explored topics such as risk management, bonding, insurance, labor relations, project accounting, and regulatory compliance, all of which are critical to the successful execution of construction projects.

Sagar also participated in site visits and hands-on learning opportunities, providing a practical understanding of how projects are planned, managed, and executed in the field. These experiences offered a valuable perspective on the day-to-day realities contractors face and how operational decisions intersect with legal and contractual obligations.

In addition, the program highlighted legislative and advocacy efforts affecting the construction industry across Illinois, reinforcing the importance of industry engagement in shaping public policy.

Through his participation, Sagar expanded his professional network and built meaningful relationships across the construction sector. Overall, the UCA Emerging Leaders Program enhanced his ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal counsel by combining legal expertise with a deeper understanding of the industry’s operational realities.
